Sorry, I forgot the make one point clear: If you use a proxy which is working fine (no peer resets), you can use "VPN Mobile" with eplus or base as mobile telecommuncation provider in a acceptable performance.

Nephilim @ August 16th 2010 4:42 am

Update for my posting from August 11th 2010 11:57 am: 1. When using a mobile connection (gprs, umts and so on) you should comment out the line "mssfix 1400" 2. If you get error messages like "reset from peer" during the connection setup, cancel the connection setup and try again. IMHO it's a problem of the proxies of the mobile telecommunication providers.

Nephilim @ August 11th 2010 11:59 am

Sorry, but this damned forum software has removed all line feeds from my previous posting :-(

Nice application. It's working fine. Regarding some of the questions here: 1. I don't know "gateProtect", the developer of this software and I don't deal with them, but I'm glad that they have published this software, 2. "VPN mobile" is an OpenVPN-client. Hence you need an OpenVPN server to use it (see 3. The client is useless if you life in germany and you're using eplus or base as your mobile telecommunication provider. You will be able to connect to your server but the performance will be very, very bad. This is not a problem of OpenVPN or the client. It's caused by the stripped down internet access provided by most of the german mobile telecommunication providers. 3. The following configuration is a working OpenVPN server configuration for this client. In order to use it, you need your own (private) CA, a server certificate for the OpenVPN server, a key for the OpenVPN server and a client certificate for your roadwarrior (this is the system using "VPN mobile"). The local network (LAN) in this configuration is The OpenVPN server uses the internal ip address and the ip address (server) and (road warrior) will be used for the OpenVPN connection. === cut here === ;dev tap dev tun1 # You need a public ip address, too. Nick you are wrong. Nothing can sniff password from VPN datastream. There are security holes ofcourse especially if you use 20-year old DES cryptosystem, but that have to be blamed on the admin not the client application. VPN is not telnet for god sake.

Angelo C. @ January 21st 2010 10:39 am

Maybe take a look at their company's About page?

David B. @ January 20th 2010 11:46 pm

I need to add to my previous message, that this looks very well done. It just needs IT approval before use (IMO). I'm not slamming the app.

David B. @ January 20th 2010 11:38 pm

Scary app. If I were a sys. admin and I found out someone was using this, I would set off all kinds of alarms. Just my opinion of course, yours may vary.

Nick @ January 20th 2010 10:43 am

I get a little nervous at unknown 3rd party VPN solutions that can sniff I/P addresses, hostnames and passwords right out of the data stream.
