» SonarCE v1.0 Description

The SonarCE aplication is a real sonar based on Pocket PC device. It uses the internal Pocket PC sound system to detect echo from different obstructions. It is quite precise with error of 5-10 cm at distance of 10m in air. It can be use in air or in water but in case of water you need external microphone and speaker closed in water proof case. The main window toolbar contains the most important functions: send one chirp, sonar loop and analyze window. More advanced functions are hidden under settings menu. Additionally this program is equipped with testing functions which helps to test the device parameters crucial for the Sonar CE application.

You can fix the wave error by clicking on wave out settings and then OK. But it doesn't work very well on my iPaq...

There are a couple of things you need to do to make it work: 1) Tests: Search offset. You may get a 'xxx too weak' error, keep doing test in different positions of phone until this works 2)Settings: Set out signal, you need to hit 'Play' to fill up the In and Out Buffer boxes at the bottom (automatic), then hit ok. After you do these you should at least get a reading on the display.

I'm not getting how it will work. It displays lines with all colors of distances, then how can i find what is the actual distance i want to measure. can anyone explain here, how to use this software ?

Michael You said you could make a device for $2 to due this how? would be great for robotics to know when coming to a wall or a cliff I thought I could possibly be used in excavating kind of interesting since they are trying to land a robot on mars that has a bucket scoop for taking samples.

SAME AS MIKAEL- Michael like mike but ael no not ke should ch oh forget it its close enough LOL I still have this on a passport from when I was A kid oh well DO SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF AND ITS ALL SMALL STUFF This looks like an awesome program! BUT, it doesnt work on my HTC TyTN (Windows Mobile 6) Any chance you could try to update it to work with never devices? DO YOU THINK IT IS A PROBLEM WITH MAPPING OF THE SPEAKER AND MICROPHONE DEVICES SINCE THERE ARE TWO SPEAKERS 1 FOR SPEAKER PHONE AND 1 FOR THE REGULAR PHONE WHICH i WOULD THINK WOULD HAVE TO BE MAPPED DIFFERANTLY just a thought may be someday someone will just let me in on all this stuff ;) Steve

I have an att 8525 (made by HTC) with WM6. I'd love to get this to work. I think it might be useful to see wiring, pipes, and studs in a wall. Is there something I can install on WM6 to support the wave function.

same problem. I have HTC Touch for Sprint - I get the same waveout error - it won't play the chirp. Is there an extention/codec I can intall to allow the chirp? If so which one?

HTC Touch usable: but I got a colorful image instead of clear lines. How should I hold my PDA? Speaker towards target? How to read the result (in my case, a Vincent Van Gough :(. Fun anyway

Good work! I cant get it to work on my wm5 but I wish I could. I get unspecified error with the waveout functicn when running the find offset test. I have Orange spv m3loo.
