OpenMobileMaps is similar to GoogleMaps but it's relying on OpenStreetMap.org. It's finger friendly and showing the map on fullscreen. GPS support and GSM triangulation (if no GPS device is present) is built in. The downloaded map tiles are stored on your phone/storage and only new ones are downloaded.

Requirements:
- Windows Mobile 5+ Professional
- .NET CF 3.5

Recommendations:
- GPS (built-in or external)
- Internet Connection
The software works well even if you don't meet the recommendations. You can still download the map tiles with your pc and transfer it to your smartphone. For this scenario I recommend JTileDownloader.

HTC HD2 - Excellent apps without having to pay for expensive roam data charges. Just pre-download required maps and use with only GPS. Can also download Google Maps...

control buttons not working.can't center on current location. no pinch zoom. only nag for donation for functions that can't be evaluated. uninstall.

This looks like it could have promise, however it keeps asking for donations. I had contributed to a few good free apps, but I do not contribute to beg-ware. Uninstalled.

good potential undermined by some key weaknesses. Firstly, the "menu" button is way too small to press it with finger; secondly: the data transfer is very slow; thirdly and most important: o can't save any map due to error (I am running it on samsung I8000).
