This is a great program.but I am having problems with gps connections.I am using extenal gps connection. does it suppport it or does it only support devices with inbuilt gps system?
Fernando, Did you installed MS dotnetCF3.5 or did you upgrade to WinMo6.5. The standard phone you have is running on WinMo6.1 What error do you get ?
Did not execute, it gave a an error message. I have a HTC TP2 running netframe work 3.5, any suggestions?
Dear QandA, The application needs an 3G or WiFi connection to plan routes the first time. The routes are then caches. So planning the route some time later again does not require the 3G or WiFi connection any more. Route planning data is small compared to tile data that can be downloaded with the MapFileConverter or caches too. The amount of route planning data is 1Kb for small routes till 300 Kbytes for routes that is around 1500 Km long.
Does this app need an internet connection to plan routing?
Version 2.1.3717.* is now showing track better. Easier visible. Some direction issues when using google as route provider are also solved. Currently there is no plan to update the Mapfile downloader. I do not get problems on windows vista and windows 7. If anyone has (e.g. pieter) Then please contact me on mobiletraveler@live.com to discus if we can find a date and time to watch your screen remotely using TeamViewer. I then might know what the problem is.
Uh? right... but what about the MapFilesConvertor?? I still do not get the map I select in the blue box...
Update MobileTraveler to at least version 2.1.3713.* MobileTraveler was storing tiles downloaded on the main memory instead of the storage card. This bug was introduced in version change from 2.0 to 2.1 It is solved in 2.1.3713
Ron, whatever I do with the MapFilesConvertor.. I selected the Netherlands over and over but get stuck with Alaska...
To be precise (re: my comment below): the MapFileConverter installer fails with a fatal error code and exits if drive C: doesn't exist. The problem can be circumvented by inserting a memory stick and assigning drive letter C: to it, and then change the suggested install path to something more appropriate whne the installer is prompting for it. You should get the systemroot drive from registry or environment variables instead of hard coding it in your source.
It would be nice if MapFileConverter could be persuaded to install even if my system disk is not C:\
New version V2.1.3702.699 for WM6.0 or higher released. Visual routing information is improved and full screen (on 800x480 devices) is now filled with map information. Earlier hang problem when network was lost is now solved too.
Make sure you got versions 2.0.3693.27070 or later. Some earlier versions 2.0.x.y have some bugs that did not free resources bitmaps ect. The program is meant for devices having at least 128 MByte ram. SonyEricson X1 or X2 are perfect devices. Some older devices running windows mobile 5.0 might have some problems. Devices running WM5.0 or WM6.0, WM6.1 need first to install the Microsoft DotNetCF3.5 Devices running WM6.5 have this allready preinstalled. See http://www.mobiletraveler.nl for more detail or ask it by sending a mail to mobiletraveler@live.com
I hope this is good.
what about something similar to a screenshot? Description is not very helpful..
wow its nice this progam

Johnny, I have no Idea about if it supports devices with external GPS too. I tested it on an IPAQ rx5900 and Sony ericsson Xperia X1 and know that there are Samsung SGH900 and SCH910 users too and that there are several HTC users. They however have all internal GPS on board. I hope someone on this forum can tell you more about this. MobileTraveler uses the standard netCF gps interface of Microsoft. I do not know if this interface can deal with external GPS devices too.
