JZ SmartMort

JZ SmartMort is a simple productivity tool for any Windows Mobile user. The software is my attempt to bridge the gap of missing features like:
* Copy / Paste
* Clipboard / URL history
* Multi-browser support (Opera Mini, Opera Mobile, NetFront, Skyfire, Iris Browser, Internet Explorer)
* Make any installed browser system-level, where it opens links from anywhere. Ability to have a default browser (with a special timeout in case you want to open a link with a non-default browser).
* Hardware buttons - supports Pocket PCs and SmartPhones for advanced hardware button mapping.
* Opera Mini - shortcut on the Start Menu, different paste and URL handling methods to accommodate different phones.
* JBed - create Start Menu shortcuts for any JBed app, run JBed App directly using JZ SmartMort, troubleshoot your JBed installation and disable JBed security prompts.
* Ability to open synced Mobile Favorites with any browser, process killing and many other interesting features.
* Includes general tweaks and hacks which will keep growing.

UNINSTALLING / REMOVING:
If the CAB does not uninstall successfully, the best software to remove JZ SmartMort is SKTools. It did much better at uninstalling than PocketMechanic and MemMaid.

OPERA MINI PASTING ISSUES:
Make sure you have tried an alternative "Opera Mini Paste Method" in JZ Browser options.

------------------------------------
What JZ SmartMort for?
------------------------------------

The software is meant for SmartPhones and Pocket PC devices running Windows Mobile 2003, 5, 6, 6.1 and 6.5 using Mort's free application MortScript (included in CAB) installed as the macro engine mapped to hardware buttons. Most prominent features of the software are the multi-browser/default browser abilities, as well as, copy/paste/clipboard-history. Please make sure check out the Help sections right in the software menus for detailed clarifications.

Browsing: Opera Mini is free, some sites look and feel better using Opera Mini, so I wanted to make it a system level browser with the option to revert to IE as needed (link #4). Support for Opera Mobile, NetFront, Skyfire, Iris, UCWEB, BOLT Browser and jB5 Browser. The software allows for managing a default browser while having many different browsers installed. On PocketPC ONLY (touchscreen), MortButtons (v2.4 and above) can be used as the GUI of JZ Browser script when a link/URL is clicked.

URL Exclusions: URL Exclusions allows user to always open a certain top-level domain name with a specific browser. So even if the URL consists of a huge string, top-level domain is stripped and compared against URL Exclusions. Example: http://google.com/somedir/somefile.htm is diffent from http://www.google.com/some/something.html, and using URL exclusions, all google.com URLs will automatically be openned with a specific browser of choice. Static browser assigned for a top-level domain name.
Hardware Button Mapping: Three different Pocket PC and two different SmartPhone methods for mapping buttons. Check the Help file right under JZ Settings for further information.

Navigation: FakeCursor embedded to assist SmartPhones run such advanced applications like TaskMgr, even though it's only made for a PPC. Map a button to JZ Action script for the best user experience.

Copy/Paste: using Vito CopyPaste or any of the other method available in the software (MortScript based keyboard shortcuts).

Clipboard and URL History: Added ability to select from a list of the last items copied to the clipboard.

IE Favorites: Ability to open Internet Explorer (ActiveSynced Favorites), located under \Windows\Favorites, with any web browser that you have installed. Choose from three different methods of opening "Favorites"; this is for speed purposes considering different devices and amount of favorites in folder.

Java: Esmertec JBed (link #6) has specific and advanced support in JZ SmartMort.

Activation: JZ SmartMort comes with a self installer/remover. Once JZ SmartMort CAB is installed, it will check if MortScript is properly installed, if not, it will attempt to install MortScript automatically. The only feature which will self-activate is JZ Browser, all other features will need to be manually activated by running the JZ Settings. If you get an error then you need to verify that you have MortScript installed.

Troubleshooting: Ability to check your JBed health. Also provide a way to fix what Opera Mobile 9 messes up (URL, HTML, ICONS, etc.)
JZ SmartMort works perfectly on my HTC Fuze (Diamond Touch Pro), HTC StarTrek (3125), HTC Kaiser (Tilt), HTC Wizard (8525) and BlackJack II. I also test on WM2003, WM5, WM6 and WM6.1 emulator ROMs from Microsoft.
I use my software every day and I designed it to be the missing link of Windows Mobile. The point was to try to find a workaround for anything WM is missing. Please make suggestions if you think something is worthwhile or if I messed something up.

When mapped to a hardware button users can copy/paste, clipboard history, favorites and more tools including ability to choose from multiple installed browsers when a URL is clicked.

Here's a question. From my computer I sent my phone a text message, so I could copy the text and paste into a MMS to a buddy. (I did this method to avoid all the thumb typing on my Samsung Code tiny keyboard). I want to COPY the text from the text message, close that program, open MMS to PASTE the text. I did find the copied text when I looked at JZ clipboard contents. Now how do I PASTE it elsewhere, say in the MMS or even in a Mobile Word document? Please note that my smartphone does not have keys called CTL SHIFT or ALT. Thanks to anyone who can explain. This will be a terrific application for me once I figure out using it. Ciao.

Atrus @ March 10th 2010 12:56 pm

I only need to copy links in skyfire webpages, Does this application could do it and is this possible to have only this part and nothing else ?

@Lane Hoberman --- button colors can be changed in MortButtons using Menu>Setup>Display... I make it pretty obvious that people should download MortButtons by asking when JZBrowser opens for the first time on a PocketPC, but maybe I should consider something more automated. On removal/uninstall, unfortunately, Windows Mobile sometimes has a hard time removing my app and SK Tools is the best solution for certain removal. Not much I can do about Windows grabbing onto my icon DLL and not wanting to release it. Thanks!

Frickin' Brilliant!! A few glitches & hiccups... Rating 5+. A must have!! Don't let this one pass you by... Needs to be more descriptive about downloading the buttons. Can the button colors be changed? Also might want to put the direct link for those that need to remove or an uninstaller?? Absolutely love this...

Caraka @ March 9th 2010 5:59 pm

A blessing, thank you. It is the only way to make Opera Mini 5.2 read links in RSS feeds. Hopefully, Opera will eventually incorporate integration with manila in the Mini but, until then, this is THE way to go. Thanks much.

@freenovice --- the easiest way to remove icons that my app creates is using my app to do it :) go to JZSettings > Misc > StartMenu Shortcuts... once you run it, it will ask about each icon and whether you want to remove it. You can say no to some and yes to others... If you have an XDA account, feel free to post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=382043 If not, you can post on SourceForge w/o creating an account. https://sourceforge.net/projects/jzsmartmort/forums/forum/802112 It's just easier for me to to reply as I get e-mail notifications and it's not globbed into one huge text block like here. I can certainly post some baby steps but you have to tell me which feature specifically you're interested in because there are way too many in my app to fully document. The best feature of my app is that it allows MULTIPLE browsers to run on your device and any time you click a URL it will ask which one you want to use. This feature works out of the box after installation, however, if you install a new browser you need to "re-scan" for it to be available in my app. Let me know if you have other questions and I can certainly give you some hints. Your generosity is appreciated as well! JZ

Works on my Samsung Code i220. Really like how I can quickly see list of my browsers and select. Q1: This pgm made several new icons in Start/Programs menu and can I remove icons I will not use, and how? Q2. Can you post baby step instructions with actual pagescreens showing stepbystep how to use your features? Thanks for your generosity in offering this. Will gladly make donations for this good app once I can use it.

@Artur: I just got the news today about Opera Mini 5 native for Windows Mobile. Here's more info about the current issues but I hope they will be fixed by Opera soon because it's a wonderful & super-fast browser... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5790214#post5790214

@cooter - look above under Removing/Uninstalling and you will see instructions on how to remove. Instead of being a typical n00b and just saying "sucks", tell me what sucks about it. The description of my app tells you exactly what it does if you didn't need any of those functions then why download and install in the first place... as you can see others don't share your opinion.

cooter @ February 26th 2010 3:15 am

sucks! cant remove it now eithur!

Please post specifics of your problem on the XDA thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=382043 I have many users that have it working with Opera Mini 5 beta 2 so there's obviously a one-off here. I'm willing to test it on my emulator but you will need to send me the exact version of your JBed 3D mod and the JAR of beta 2 you're using just so I'm consistent with your exact configuration. The best thing to do is to zip up and post onto XDA your \windows\appdb\selector.utf --- file which is the JBed app list...Thanks!

chirag @ December 4th 2009 2:56 am

1.62 version cant find operamini beta 2 on my phone which is htc p3400i. i m using jbed 3d mod
