» iContact v0.6 Description

iContact is a simple contacts applications for your Windows Mobile device which will help you scroll your contact list in iPhone style by sliding down your finger in the screen! It's really amazing and if you get used to it iContact could be one of your everyday apps.

The app is very basic, it only lists contacts in scrollable list. Use it for accessing your contacts by scrolling the list with fingers, similar to iPhone. Just tap, drag and release.

To select a contact, just tap and release, and standard contact details dialog should appear.

VIDEO

New in 0.6 are:
  • simple favorites management. Sliding a contact from left to right brings a plus sign. It's a little tricky at first, but i got used to it. Tapping on the plus sign tags a contact as favorite. If the contact is already favorite, you can unfavorite it (does that word exist? )
Pushing "Right" on the D-pad brings the favorites window. Pushing "Left" brings "all contacts" window.
  • "mobile" and "work" numbers have "sms" option. Tapping it will bring new sms window.
  • "email" option works if you have configured email account, and have it entered in iContact settings file.
  • D-pad navigation is fully supported in contact details. Left key brings you back to contact list, while Right key brings you "new sms dialog" if currently selected number has sms option.
  • settings.ini file has been added. It must reside in the same directory as iContact.exe. You can setup your email account in there and you can also setup strings used throughout the app ("mobile", "sms", "ABC" etc ...)
  • other small fixes

Hei.. this is awsome. Thanks alot. I found a problem which is quite annoying. The keyboard shortcut on my WM6 does not disappear the first time i launch the program, and will give problems when opened too. If I minimize iContact and re-switch to it the problem cleared. I think there is a problem when you first launch the program. The keyboard is not hidden correctly.

It CRASHED! I clicked on the Name and it showed details. I clicked again and it opened the original Contact manager and then crashed. Secondly, There is no way to close the alphabet box without selecting any alphabet. Thirdly, it doesn't display any phonenumbers with names and there is not setting to do that. Lastly, no call button from the main list to call. have to click a lot of times before making a call. and it doesn't replace the original contact manager. It doesn't show any pictures in the list view. and when you use teh keys to scroll, it doesn't skip teh alphabets when the key is pressed. So, loaded it and unloaded it immediately.

everyone who keeps asking about a way to make a shortcut for the app. YOU NEED A REG. KEY EDITOR! download something like phm registry editor and remap your right softkey (if using a ppc6800 or similar model) its quite simple just a matter of deleting the file path that goes to the windows contacts and re map the path to go to icontacts make sure its in the program files folder on your device. any questions ask and ill try to ellaborate, peace

I got a useful tip from windowsitpro.com site to create a shortcut for iContact. "Right click" on iContact.exe program file, select Copy then navigate to the destination (usually \Windows\Start Menu\Programs) and "right click" again, and select Paste Shortcut. It worked in my hTC P3300. I guess, this should work in any WM mobile.

great that you can now call by tapping the phone number directly in the details screen w/out it having to open MScontacts. But versus v4, the upward scroll seems buggy, it's slower and stutters and doesn't let you flick for fast scroll regularly. kick butt app though! And please add an "add contact" button. With that, we'd have the perfect contacts ap!!! THANKS for this app! my fake windows iphone is near completion thanks to you!

For it to keep your favorites, it has to be installed on the device, not an external card. As soon as I moved it over, worked like a champ. it would be cool to have it on a card though since device space is golden.

I have the att tilt and this program works great with two exceptions. When you choose a contact and click the contact name to enter the details, the menu does not show the option to add a voice tag. Instead, you see an elypsis in that space. Is there a fix for this that I am missing? Secondly, for phone numbers such as *646#, the dialing does not work. Otherwise, this is fantastic!!

Love this application. Would be perfect if you could use the Talk hard button as well though. On my HTC Touch it brings up my phone on an entry, where it should just call (I would think). Or even an option to "Click to Talk" so a quick tap could call, whereas a click-and-hold for a half/second would open up contact details. I love, love, this application. Can anyone make it "roll" upward as fast as they can downward? I sure can't.

Chris, just download the icontacts.exe to your mobile. This is not a cab file. If you have a launcher program, just point it to this file or it's shortcut. If you search this thread, you should be able to find the method to map it to your buttons. Also, there is a way to set this as your default contacts program instead of mscontacts. Need a regedit program for this...the instructions are somewhere in this thread also. I did not have any problems running it on the att tilt.

Name it 40C6 you need to add a string to it with the following: "\Program Files\iContact\iContact.exe" Make sure you do that exactly quotation marks and all. Add another string called name with button value button 6. It should work now, you may have to do a soft reset, i dont remember if i had to or not. Any other questions let me know.
