I have been using Golf GPS on an old Ipaq with bluetooth GPS (wm5) for several months and wouldn't be without it now. It is easy to create a data file for a course using the coursemaker and to fine tune the data at the course. The only problems I have encountered: here in Australia we measure in metres and it is too easy to be using yards without being aware that the units need to be changed. Also, google mapping is not particularly accurate in less densely populated areas so when I visited a "remote" course the accuracy made the GPS useless.
I agree with other comments. FreeCaddie is great and easy to use to set up new courses etc. Only limiting factor in the free version is that you can't get distances to hazards, only to front/middle/back of green.
Wish I could test it. I use Windows Mobile 6.1 but gps golf states, that my .Net Compact Framework is to old
good freeware
wrong jojo, i use freecaddie and it is free to use, to edit courses and to download courses. why provide inaccurate information?
The course maker assumes that all golf courses are 18 holes. I'm a beginner, so I spend most of my time on a short 9-hole course, so I guess I have to add 9 non-existent holes. The course maker also appears to be broken under Firefox. AFTER I went to the trouble of placing all the little flags and tried to submit it, I got a popup window containing just "IE4", then nothing happened.
buy a phone, use this or freecaddie. more useful than a standalone golf gps and about the same price.

did you know you can Rent a Golf GPS by the day. It's a Try before and buy if you like. I rented the Skycaddie and found it very useful. check out www.golfgpsrental.com Going to buy one next week.
Your right cliff, except Freecaddie isn't really free, at least to use the online course editor or to download courses. setting up a course is painful in the free version. I will say, if you do buy their program, it is much better than this one!!!
Freecaddie is already out there, and is better than this. Why make this too?
Certainly has promise, needs more people to make more courses. But since it is free, it should grow!!!!
Perfect app to improve value of smart phone - i will be changing to Windows Mobile shortly and plan to do our course Bent Tree CC Dallas.
